Dr. Jalpa Bhuta has done her medical training at Sir J J Group of Hospitals and Grant Medical College.
She then secured a Gold Medal in MD Psychiatry, having trained at Seth G.S Medical College and KEM Hospital for 3 years. After further doing her DNB at the National Board Level, and DPM, she worked as a Research Officer at a Prestigious WHO Project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of India. She worked as a Lecturer in General Psychiatry in KJ Somaiya Hospital, Department of Psychiatry.
She has then subsequently trained and worked in various subspecialties in General Psychiatry with the best hospitals in the United Kingdom.ie. Institute of Psychiatry, Maudsley Hospital, Kings College London ( Anthony Davies, Frank Holloway, Dr. McIvor, Dr. Mathew Hotopf). She has been acquainted with psychopharmacological advances, research and Psychological therapies here. She has worked in Belfast City Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital for Children and Adolescents and the Oxford Deanery Rotation at Northampton General Hospital. Here she has subspecialised in Child and Adolescent and Family mental Health. The Emphasis has been on Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinics, ADHD Clinics, Autism Clinics, Neurodevelopmental and Neuropsychiatric Disorders, Self-harm in children, Adopted children, etc. She has subsequently worked with dysfunctional families and done certified courses in Brief Solution Focussed Family therapy with hands-on experience under trained Supervisors.
She has done Psychodynamic Psychotherapy with Dr. Maureen ( Maudsley) and Dr. R. Ingram.
She has done Cognitive Behaviour Therapy certified courses in Oxford and London, and Balint Psychotherapy in Belfast.
She has had Advanced training in Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Chicago and Barcelona.
She has attended various National and International Conferences and presented papers at the same. She has several Publications to her credit.
From 2008 – 2012, she has been the Clinical Lead in the Department of Psychiatry as a Woman and Child Psychiatrist at Kokhilaben Hospital, Mumbai. She has been instrumental in setting up and the running of the Psychiatry Dept. for the 750 bedded, multi-specialty tertiary care Hospital. Subsequently, from 2012 up to now, she is at Global Hospital (Parel) Surya hospital Santacruz and Hinduja healthcare at Khar.
Dr. Jalpa has held several workshops in preschools and schools to create awareness amongst teachers and parents.
She has been faculty in conferences & workshops for medical professionals.
